Accomplishments

Bill McClure’s Accomplishments in office:

Nov 2012 – Elected to represent the people of St. John’s County.

Dec 2012 – Directly involved in negotiations with Advanced Disposal to move their corporate headquarters to St. John’s County, totaling 800 high wage jobs.

Mar 2013 – Directly involved in healthcare outcomes that names St. John’s County as the #1 healthiest county in Florida.

April 2013 – Graduate of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Hurricane Preparedness.

May 2013 – Successfully created an economic incentive ordinance to create economic enterprise zones, which have minimal school impact with maximum tax revenue to St. John’s County Taxpayers.

June 2013 – Graduate of St. John’s County Sheriff’s Office Civilian Law Enforcement Academy.

July 2013 – Appointed Co-Chairman of the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) Public Safety and Finance & Audit Committee’s.

October 2013 – Graduate of State of Florida’s Department of Children and Family Services (DCF) Foster Parent Program.

January 2014 – Presented the Florida Legislature with proposed bills for enhancement to homeownership building programs, and taxpayer reduced impact for: medicaid costs, juvenile detention costs, and utility relocation costs.

March 2014 – Passed Economic Incentive Ordinance which takes into consideration school capacity.

April 2014 – Became a State of Florida Guardian Ad Litem, a voice for the children within DCF.

June 2014 – Became a Certified County Commissioner from the Florida Association of Counties, a 42 hour program to become an expert on local government.

June 2014 – FAC Presidential appointee to the Federal Legislative Committee as Vice Chairman.

July 2014 – Became a member of the National Association of Counties Healthcare Committee.

August 2014 – Became a member of National Association of Counties Transportation Committee.

June 2015 – Awarded Presidential Advocacy Award,  from the Florida Association of Counties, for going above and beyond during the 2015 Legislative Session.

July 2015 – Successfully lowered property tax rates, while adding funding for St. John’s County Roads, and getting unemployment rates to under 4%.

August 2015 – Successfully defeated the administrative push for the county to levy a 1 cent sales tax to be used for roads, and other county capital projects, leaving the school system out in the cold.

August 2015 – Successfully recommended that the St. John’s County school system should try to pass a 1/2 cent sales tax to be used to build new schools, rather than leasing portables that cost taxpayer money. Again, the Schools are #1 rated in the State.

September 2015 – Passed a smart budget, eliminating two major cost items regarding Florida DEP, and the county golf course which competes with private enterprise.

October 2015 – Successful adoption of a child to a foster family while representing him in the Guardian Ad Litem program.

December 2015- Appointed to serve on the Board of Trustees for Florida Association of Counties Trust (FACT), managing the Property Casualty, Workers Comp, and General Liability for all participating counties.

March 2016 – Successfully saved all counties in Florida over 11 million dollars annually through the passage of shared Juvenile Detention Costs! (Lobbied for 4 years to make this happen!)

November 2015 – May 2015 – Successfully defeated many proposed non-smart developments that put a strain on county resources.

April 2016 – Welcomed Eagle View Doors and Windows to our area, an employer looking to expand to several hundred jobs.

May 2016 – Successfully pushed for the refinancing of municipal bonds saving taxpayers over 27 million dollars in interest!

Civic / Community Involvement:

Scenic A1A National Highway and Byway Board Member, Chair of Spoonbills and Sprockets Bicycle Ride, Community highway trash pickups, and the famous 72 mile garage sale.
